FIRE EVACUATION DIAGRAMS
The Australian Standard AS 3745 ‘Planning for emergencies in facilities’ defines a fire evacuation diagram as ‘emergency and evacuation information about the facility, comprising a pictorial representation of a floor or area and other relevant response information’. They are required in every workplace, public space and residential tenancy.
The Australian Standard outlines specific requirements in relation to size of plan and diagram, ‘You Are Here’ and orientation of the maps, location of Fire Extinguishers, Fire Hose Reels, Exit Doors, evacuation route & assembly area, evacuation procedure & fire orders and diagram labelling such as address and issue & validation dates.
WHAT WE DO
Diagrams are located in highly visible locations to ensure occupier access to the emergency information.
Olax understands the requirements of AS 3745 and understands the importance of aesthetic in these highly visible locations within a space. Diagrams designed and produced are refined, clear, concise, informative and meet all statutory requirements. Each space has specific egress requirements; therefore, we work closely with Building Surveyors and Fire Engineers, seeking their input and approval prior to implementation.
IMPLEMENTATION
Diagrams are valid for a period of 5 years, at which time it is reviewed, updated and validated for another 5 year period. With this in mind, there are many ways to produce the diagrams, digital print directly to a sub straight or wrapping a sub-straight in digitally printed vinyl, these methods are clean, minimal and cost effective, however the entire sign must be replaced on validation. An alternate solution is the use of a frame with a printed card board diagram inserted, only requiring a re-print on validation. Olax will manage the manufacture and installation of the most suitable solution based on customer requirements.
